9780615202877: The Colonial Theatre: A Pittsfield Resurrection

Synopsis

Celebrate the glorious transformation of the Colonial Theatre from the Miller Supply Company to the present day jewel, in this beautiful volume of photographic documentation and accompanying essays. One series of photographs illustrates the dormant theatre in the days before restoration. From beneath the grit and decay one can glimpse the poignant beauty and potential as the theatre balances on the fulcrum between past and future. Another series of photographs documents the restoration in multiple panoramic views of the same locations during the transformation. Context is provided in essays on the theatre's history by former Mayor Anne Everest Wojtkowski, on the theatre s relationship to Pittsfield's revival by Mayor James W. Ruberto, and the Colonial's current state by Executive Director David Fleming. Also included is a statement by the photographer and a revealing interview with former owner Steve Miller.
