About the Author

Doug Briggs is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS,*D) with the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and a NSCA Fly Solor Mentor, and has been involved in strength and conditioning for over thirty years. He is a competitive Olympic-style weightlifter and won the 2002 and 2005 Pan American Masters Weightlifting Championships, setting a new Pan American Masters Snatch Record in 2002. He is currently the Director of Human Performance for the U.S. Army Morale, Welfare, & Recreation (MWR) activity at Fort Bliss, Texas. He is also a faculty member at New Mexico State University. Subjects he teaches or has taught include anatomy, motor development, principles of strength & conditioning, personal training, tests & measurements, as well as beginning, intermediate, advanced, and women's weight training. He has also taught Olympic-style weightlifting. He has written for numerous magazines including Pure Power Magazine, Bliss NOW, and the Army Times.
