Synopsis
This is a comprehensive history of the Bedford Springs Resort at Bedford, PA, long known for its healing waters. Discovered in 1796, the resort built around the mineral springs. Visited by ten U.S. Presidents, Bedford Springs was the summer White House of President Buchanan and a retreat for the rich and famous. After years of neglect the grand old resort was completely restored and updated, and reopened in 2007, and is now managed by Omni Hotels and Resorts. The historic preservation and restoration was completed at a cost of $120 million. This book details the colorful history of the hotel from prehistoric times through 2009.
