Synopsis

Includes eyewitness accounts of the Great Storm of 1913 (Ed Kanaby of the steamer HB Hawgood) and the 1940 Armistice Day Storm (Lloyd Belcher of the Canadian freighter Novadoc). Also features the 1965 deadly collision of the Cedarville at the Straits of Mackinac as told by wheelsman Len Gabrysiak. "The Wheelsmen" also includes the full story of the survivors of the Coast Guard cutter Escanaba, lost in a mysterious explosion during World War II. Based on interviews appearing in the documentaries "Final Run: Storms of the Century" and "Cutter Rescues".

About the Author
Ric Mixter is a former TV news reporter known for his ability to locate forgotten shipwrecks and their survivors. He is an award winning historian who has appeared on the History and Discovery Channels and has also created over 30 programs for Midwest PBS stations. Ric has dove and recorded over 100 shipwrecks including the Edmund Fitzgerald. His documentaries "Deep Six" and "The Edmund Fitzgerald Investigations" are some of the best selling Great Lakes videos ever created and he is frequently asked to speak at colleges, elementary schools and historical societies all around the lakes.
