About the Author
Gerard Thomas Johnson II was born in Dallas Texas on January 27, 1951 and moved to Gulfport Mississippi in the late fifties where he still lives today with his wife Marcia. He has five children and ten grandchildren. After graduating from high school he joined the United States Air Force and served his country as an Air Force Security policeman. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force he began a career in Law Enforcement in 1974 and obtained his B. A. degree from William Carey College in 1978. He retired from the Gulfport Police Department as a Detective Lieutenant in 2000. His fascination with the Alamo, like most baby boomers, started with Walt Disney s Davy Crockett television series. It was rekindled in 1960 with the release of John Wayne s The Alamo. John Lee Hancock s 2004 version was the icing on the cake. The Illustrated Siege and battle of the Alamo has been a life long dream.
