Hard Knocks 101 gives you the ability to see in a more vivid, multidimensional way. It provides a bridge for those of us who are socially divided by misunderstanding and misinformation. A challenge to our perspectives is to understand things not always easily understood. Major emphasis has been placed on the following topics: education, self, money, women, toys, the definition of a real man, law and order, friends and enemies, bad habits, etc. This is a guide for life's predictable and unpredictable realities, along with much needed information for those mean streets.

Manny Phillips was born shortly after the Watts Riots of 1965 in Los Angeles, California. He was raised in Compton and later Pomona, California. At 10 years old, Manny was enrolled in a school program for Mentally Gifted Minors. By age 20, he was incarcerated in federal prison for conspiracy. Having done years in prison-reading, writing, praying, and thinking about all his experiences-the author decided to put his writings in some sort of order so that a reader may one day benefit from the information he has chosen to share. In addition to a legacy of criminal activity, Manny has also owned several business: a computer sales company, property management, boxing promotion, etc. He's traveled around the world to places like Kuwait, China, and the U.K. seeking out business opportunities. While maintaining a well-managed reputation within the local communities, he has known and worked with various celebrities, gang members, community activists, and educators throughout the years. He has also been active in investing in stocks and other investments for over 20 years. It took 7 1/2 years of writing and research for Manny to complete this work and more in blood, sweat, and tears.
'Manny Phillips' Hard Knocks 101 is a powerful work of reflection on how to survive, thrive and be a force for good in our cold and cruel world! Don't miss it! --Cornel West
