About the Author

Beth Glosten, MD, created the RiderPilates program in Redmond, Washington, where she offers private Pilates sessions, small group exercise classes, and rider position-focused riding lessons. She also frequently travels to teach riding clinics that apply RiderPilates principles.

Beth received her Pilates training through the PhysicalMind Institute and is certified through the Pilates Method Alliance. She earned her medical degree at the University of Washington and had a career as an academic anesthesiologist, specializing in obstetric anesthesia. While she no longer practices medicine, her medical knowledge and experience inform her teaching. Beth's medical background laid a foundation for her analytical approach to rider position issues, as well as the structure of her book, Ride in Balance.

Beth currently owns two horses: a promising 2004 mare, Donner Girl ("DG"), and the semiretired 1992 Grand Prix mare, Bluette. She has successfully competed in dressage from Training level through Grand Prix; has earned her United States Dressage Federation (USDF) bronze, silver, and gold medals; and is a graduate of the USDF "L" judge training program.
