About the Author

Greg Metcalf has taught and fished in beautiful Washington State for over thirty years. During that time his bands have attained many successes and received numerous awards and accolades. His fishing has not reached as high a level but his fish ‘stories’ have come close.....according to his friends. Greg has received "Teacher of the Year" in the Kennewick School District, "Golden Acorn Award" in the Everett School District, and was inducted into the "Hall of Fame" for Washington Music Educators Association and "Hall of Fame" for his alma mater, Pasco High School. His performance history has included Central Washington University's award winning jazz band, under the direction of John Moawad, The Stan Kenton Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, Fifth Avenue and Paramount Theatres, and backing a number of artists including Johnny Matthis, Bernadette Peters, The Temptations, Linda Ronstadt, Barry Manilow, Natalie Cole and others. Teaching has played an important part in Greg's life, but so has Washington State. Whether hiking in the Cascade Mountains or meandering along the Puget Sound, Greg finds contentment in Washington's beauty. His experiences in the classroom and the great outdoors have helped him in penning his tales.
