Synopsis

In 2004, Phil Druker was invited to trek through the Upper Dolpo: a distant mountainous and Tibetan region of Nepal inhabited by some of the toughest people on the planet. His 22-day trek stimulated and challenged his lifetime love of walking in the outdoors. He and his companions, Charla Britt and Laurie Vasily, made great friends, met engaging residents, and exalted with ethereal sunshine and high mountain passes.

About the Author

Phil Druker taught technical, travel and environmental writing at the University of Idaho. He coedited, with Mary Clearman Blew, Forged in Fire: Essays by Idaho Writers and Borne on Air: Essays by Idaho Writers, and he wrote occasional columns for the Lewiston (Idaho) Tribune’s Outdoor Page. He started living in Idaho in the mid-1970s, while working as a logger and a farmer. He has taken skiing and climbing expeditions in Canada and Alaska and has traveled in the Americas and South East Asia. He lives in Moscow, Idaho, with his wife Jeannie Harvey.
