Synopsis

With Grammar to Go, students gain a broad understanding of the basic patterns and structures of English. As students begin to diagram sentences, the rules of grammar become ingrained over time rather than through rote memorization. Students learn the parts of speech by evaluating each word's position and function within a sentence. Through this practice-oriented approach, students become actively invested in the learning process, using their critical-thinking skills to move incrementally from simple to more complex sentence patterns.

  • Boxed features throughout the text cover quick tips, the parts of speech, and common grammatical errors.
  • Extensive examples and exercises reinforce each new concept, eliminating the need for a separate workbook. In addition, students can review and practice applying skills at the end of each chapter.
  • Students memorize only what they need at appropriate intervals, rather than a long list of terms at once.
  • The authors' engaging, accessible instruction draws students' interest without diluting the content for developmental courses.
