Aimed at advanced students of French without an extensive background in linguistics, Savoir dire clearly and accessibly explains all major features of standard French pronunciation. The text successfully integrates pronunciation practice into all the major components of general French study: language, linguistics, culture, and literature. This edition provides students and professors with a fresh view of contemporary French pronunciation.

Review:
"I like the idea that ["Savoir dire"] provides ' natural speech' in context.... The reverse transcription exercises are great.... The explanations are clearer, better organized and less intimidating [than those in our current text] and the text is at a more appropriate level.

"I think [' "les quatre phrases"' ] are wonderful!

"I like the fact that [explanations] are just long enough to explain the material without going into unnecessary detail.

"I like the Instructor' s Edition very much and wish I had one like it for [my current text]!"

"["Savoir Dire" has] excellent explanations and literary text practice exercises.

"Explanations [are] complete and very clear, allowing students to read and comprehend ' theoretical' aspects."

"Students seem to like ["Savoir dire"]. They seem to enjoy a lot of the poetry, as well as the oral exercises, which are excellent.... It is relatively easy to prepare a syllabus from the book and study from it (the various topics are well balanced)."
