From the Back Cover

What does it take to successfully prepare and deliver presentations to audiences in public, college, workplace, and community settings?

The photograph on the front cover of this textbook illustrates how presentational speaking takes place well beyond the confines of a college classroom or a political rally. You will make and listen to presentations in conference rooms, in formal and informal situations, to large public audiences, to groups of friends and colleagues and, who knows, possibly on rooftops! You may present in face-to-face environments, via mediated systems, as part of staged events, and even in impromptu group discussions. Presentations in Everyday Life will help you select and use effective communication strategies and skills so that you can make memorable and successful presentations — no matter where, why, when, or to whom you speak.

New Features of the Third Edition

What reviewers are saying about Presentations in Everyday Life:

“This text far exceeds the others I've read in the way it incorporates theories into the text.  It is also the most accessible treatment of outlining I've read.”

-           Jo Anna Grant, California State University, San Bernardino

“This is one of the MOST readable, down to earth, fun textbooks to read.”

-           Patricia O’Keefe, College of Marin

“The Tip Boxes are quite helpful and would appeal to the “sound bite” culture that represents many of our students. The book is easy to follow as well; it’s logical, visually as well as content.”

-           Carla J. Harrell, Old Dominion University

“The principles and practices of this text are exemplary.”

-           Gary Kuhn, Chemeketa Community College
