Synopsis
Building Contract Dictionary provides a succinct, but authoritative reference to words, phrases and terms encountered in, and in connection with, building contracts.
For the new edition all entries have been reconsidered and updated in light of case law and legislation and the book has been substantially enlarged since the last edition ten years ago. There are now over 800 separate entries A wide range of contracts has been referenced, including JCT 98, IFC 98, MW 98, WCD 98, PCC 98, MC 98, ACA 3, GC/Works/1 (1998), NEC, NSC/C, DOM/1, DOM/2 as well as topics such as adjudication, arbitration and the Civil Procedure Rules.

A succinct but authoritative reference to the terms encountered in and associated with building contracts. The new thoroughly updated edition incorporates changes in the law since the 1990 revision, the new editions of standard forms of contract now including NSC/C, NSC/W, DOM/1, DOM/2 and the Engineering and Construction Contract. Reference is also made to the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999, the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 and its associated adjudication and notice provisions.
About the Author
David Chappell is Principal of David Chappell & Associates in San Francisco, California. David's popular keynotes and seminars have been presented in more than two dozen countries, and his books on enterprise software have been translated into ten languages.
Vincent Powell-Smith was a British barrister, professor of law and legal author. He also wrote under the pen names Justiciar and Francis Elphinstone. Powell-Smith was born in Westerham, Kent, England and died in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is survived by two daughters, Amanda Jane and Helena Alexia.
