"Freshest page-turner this year"

A week in Cannes can be murder: Andy Carrick - an ex soldier still doing battle with himself - hunts for the cut-throat razor killer of a decadent advertising guru murdered during a long lunch.

At first the murder seems a real life-saver; Carrick aches to get back to the centre of things.

But suddenly he's not so sure. The investigation is leading him straight back to his own messy past, a dark and lonely place he's in no hurry to revisit.

The action plunges through the famous hotels and bars of the French Riviera during festival season as Carrick begins to wonder if it's really the crime of passion it's been made to look?

Is it actually big business related?

Or maybe, just maybe, a brazen international modern art forgery scam?

When Carrick's own alibi crumbles he starts wondering one more thing: can he survive seven days and nights in a town full of liars for hire?

Want vivid characters and tight plotting shot through with dry wit?

Strap yourself in.

Acclaimed internationally:

"Newman has a way with language and his metaphors littered throughout the prose is visually powerful ... constantly surprises the reader... This writer has such a unique way of seeing the world, and yet it's so familiar that you feel connected and a part of the whole story from the beginning to the very end." Kaylee

"Excellent .... A good story line and strong character development ... gripping .... I will look for any future works by Mr Newman." Peter Bolitho

Praise for Don't Die Wondering

"I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it - especially as I read it during the Lions festival and staying at La Colombe d'Or!!" WORLD'S BEST TV ADS

"Andy Carrick is a former British Special Forces officer who is still struggling with his near-death experience in Afghanistan. Andy has been treating his PTSD with alcohol ... hiding out at a cottage in rural France when a chance to rejoin the real world presents itself ... Newman skilfully presents Andy as one of the many soldiers who have trouble resettling into civilian life ... It is heartening to watch Andy come back to life once he has a mission again ... Newman's engrossing narrative is well-paced ... Here's hoping the author has more adventures planned for his appealing hero. A winning new detective who overcomes his demons." KIRKUS REVIEWS

"I loved it. Witty and Gritty." Morris & Partners

"An entertaining, exciting and thrilling mystery... It hooked me into the story right away ... It is a fast-paced and intense story by a new author who writes with a style dense with dialogue and action. He expresses a lot of ideas using very few words ... (like Kurt Vonnegut did). The ending was exciting and thrilling like the entire story. Well done! I highly recommend this book. " Five Stars: TEAM GOLFWELL

"Do not let presumptions dissuade you from enjoying this book...well-rounded characters and a brightly-lit stage. There is no telling where each chapter will take you." ***** USA Book Reviews

"I found it gripping and altogether satisfying. Smart. Fast. Unique ... I think I'd even enjoy reading it again and I can't say that about a lot of thrillers." Five Stars: Esmeralda

"The way the past and present weave together to build suspense and reveal details about the story make for an interesting and eventful read. I couldn't put this book down once I got started reading it. Every page held some new detail or part of the mystery that made me want to read more and more." Five Stars: Goodreads
