Review
Each chapter of James Spencer's Retriever Training Tests explains a different type of test (single marked retrieve, double marked retrieve, triple marked retrieve, basic blind retrieve, suction blind retrieve) and builds on the work in the previous chapters. Also included in each chapter are training tests that illustrate the environmental factors that can affect a dog's performance included wind, terrain, cover, and placement and sequence of falls. Retriever Training Tests enables novices to understand the subtleties of tests that they encounter at field trails, in hunting tests, in working certificate tests, and in hunting. Part of each chapter is devoted to training tips and handling techniques. The training tips are not intended to constitute a complete training program, but they do cover certain training problems that are not adequately covered elsewhere in retriever training literature. The handling techniques are divided into hunting, hunting tests, and field trial situations, and they are intended to help you make your dog's job easier by the manner in which you handle the various retrieving problems.
