Reviews

Divided into five short chapters, this offers a classroom-centered mystery that is accessible to new readers. Jeffrey Bones takes pride in his ability to unravel mysteries, not addition problems. During a math test, Bones spends his time daydreaming before slapping down random numbers as answers. When his teacher hands back the tests, Bones’ paper is missing. Opening his detective bag, Bones applies his mind to the case and finds his paper. It takes a retest, though, to provide a happy ending. The fifth book in the Bones series, this offers a portrayal of the young sleuth kids can identify with. Grades K-2. --Carolyn Phelan
