Synopsis
Much of the research and writing was done while the author was a member of staff of the Institute of Nuclear Studies at the University of Chicago. The reader will be surprised by some of the predictions, the accuracy of some and the inaccuracy of others. A few examples of topics are: limits on natural resources are examined comprehensively, environmental degradation is discussed, although greenhouse effect is never mentioned. Solar energy is mentioned as a future hope. Nuclear war was a serious prospect. Brown simply tries to look at known facts present and past (1954) and make a realistic future projection.
