Don't let the occasional sarcastic and inappropriate language put you off this intelligent book written by a self-described feminist lawyer. The title seems to indicate a how-to book. This, as the author makes clear in the introduction, is not the case. It is, rather, a thorough discussion of the legal aspects, with references to relevant cases, of sex discrimination, sexual harassment, rape, domestic violence, and women's health issues. Some may argue with the strongly pro-choice bias of the author in the chapter on abortion, but Shilling never tries to hide her feminist views, which are in evidence throughout, or the fact that she is writing for feminist readers. Approached in this context, an excellent book; recommended. Anne S. Twitchell, Mote Marine Laboratory Lib., Sarasota, Fla.
