From School Library Journal

Pre S-Grade 2-A tender tale about the unconditional love shared by a mother bear and her son. After a busy day spent "helping" Mama in the garden and around the house, Little Charlie is a mess. When his mother asks him if he is ready to get into the tub, he replies, "I'd do anything for you!" As she bathes him and prepares him for bed, he gives numerous examples of the many ways he would prove his love ("I'd swim to the end of the bathtub.... And all the way back" or "I'd climb to the top of a really tall tree..."). Mama uses his promise to get him tucked in and fast asleep without a fuss. Typefaces of various sizes add expression to the text. The illustrations feature warm, autumn-hued colors sprinkled with colorful pastels. Small vignettes depict each of the things that Little Charlie would do for his mother. A perfect choice for bedtime or as a cozy read-aloud.-Wanda Meyers-Hines, Ridgecrest Elementary School, Huntsville, AL
