About the Author
Denis Hamill is the author of ten novels, including two previous novels featuring Bobby Emmet--3 Quarters and Throwing 7's, as well as Fork in the Road, Long Time Gone, Sins of Two Fathers, and his Brooklyn Christmas fable, Empty Stockings. He currently writes a column for the New York Daily News, and he has been a columnist for New York magazine, the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, and the Boston Herald American.

Bobby Emmet, the NYPD detective turned private investigator, returns in this mystery that showcases Hamill's very personal interpretation of New York City. This is a suspenseful and dramatic story, but, as usual, it's the characters, and New York itself, that take center stage. Hamill plunges the readers into the world of hip-hop music (the dead woman's children were once an up-and-coming hip-hop group), into the streets and back alleys, and shows us New York from unique angles that bring it vividly to life.
