Review:
Eden Palmer will do anything to keep her plantation, Palmer Oaks. After careful considerations, Eden travels to Barbados to purchase indigo plants, believing that crop will do well in the rich Carolina soil. She must bargain with a buccaneer for the plants and she offers him a deal that he finds too good to pass up. Bull Hawkins sees this transaction as an easy way of becoming a gentleman, so he accepts her offer. He takes her gold and books passage for her and the plants on a ship that will be sailing for the Carolinas the next day. The ship is captained by a very handsome Swiss noble, Baron Derek von Walden who is emmigrating to the colony with many of his countrymen and women to start a new beginning in a new town they will call Waldenburg. The captain is reluctant to take this woman on board, with her plants, but she convinces him that they will be no problem. Eden and Derek face many problems as they sail toward their future. One problem is that a young Swiss lady on board is in love with the baron and she feels threatened by the beautiful blonde, and she is a cause for trouble. But that is the least of their problems, for enroute to Carolina, they encounter a pirate ship and the pirates have other ideas for the baron and mistress Palmer. Fate takes a turn, and Derek and Eden are rescued and they continue safely to their destination. The King of England has given Derek thirty thousand acres of land, which unbeknownst to Eden or Derek, includes her plantation. Derek is the first one to realize this fact and it puts him in an awkward position,as he knows how much her plantation means to her. Derek and Eden love each other, but even bigger problems arise as Eden also discovers that the perimeters of Derek's land grant include Palmer Oaks. She begins to question whether or not she believes him, and whether or not she can trust him. And more importantly, does Derek want her, or her property? Derek finds it harder to convince her of his love, and he begins to feel the futility of it. Eden has bet her whole future on the indigo crop, but is that what she really wants? Or is it Derek or Palmer Oaks, or can she have it all?A captivating tale that is brimming over with the emotions of a strong, independent herione in love who faces doubts and uncertainties about her man.
