"You were honest with me right from the beginning, just saying you're doing your job. I know you do a good job." -- O.J. Simpson to Tom Lange, via cellular phone during the Bronco chase.
In this astonishing audiobook, veteran LAPD detectives Tom Lange and Philip Vannatter -- the leaders of the investigation into the Brown/Goldman double murder -- fully chronicle the police case that brought O.J. Simpson to trial. Here are the plain facts of this sensational case, recounted in the kind of riveting detail only the detectives on the scene could deliver. And this is also the story of how solid, professional police work became...Evidence Dismissed.
Drawing from personal journals, police logs, and audiotapes, Lange and Vannatter reconstruct the entire five-day investigation, beginning with the 3am calls on June 13th, 1994, that summoned them to the crime scene. A true insider's account, Evidence Dismissed brings all aspects of the case into compelling focus as Lange and Vannatter finally discuss candidly their sense of betrayal and frustration as their painstaking police work was undermined in the criminal trial by both Simpson's "Dream Team" and the prosecution.
For many, the O.J. Simpson case boiled down to a controversial verdict. For detectives Lange and Vannatter, it was always about solving a double murder. Evidence Dismissed is a powerful reminder that the killer in the case still roams free.

Evidence Dismissed, The Inside Story of the Police Investigation of O.J. Simpson is one of those as-told-to books, the tellers being Detective Tom Lange and Detective Philip Vannatter, who led the investigation into the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. Here, free from the constraints of courtroom procedure, cross-examination, and public relations spin, they present their side of the story, including much evidence that never saw its day in court.
Detectives Lange and Vannatter took a lot of flak during the first Simpson trial and in the barrage of books that followed. In Evidence Dismissed they have their revenge by pointing out errors in the prosecution's case and getting in a few digs at the defense attorneys. As told to Dan E. Moldea, a veteran crime reporter, this latest insider story sheds some new light on the behind-the-scenes activity surrounding the most recent "Trial of the Century."About the Author:
DETECTIVE PHILIP VANNATTER entered the Los Angeles Police Academy in 1969 after serving on the U.S. Army peacekeeping force i Korea. In 27 years with the LAPD, he investigated more than 250 homicides, and became a court expert in highly sensitive officer-involved shootings and homicides. Throughout his career, he received more than 60 law enforcement and 250 civilian-initiated commendations. He retired from the LAPD in1996.
