From School Library Journal

Grade 1-3 Aimed at stimulating natural curiosity and encouraging new discoveries, this book introduces basic scientific principles through experiments. A brief explanation of the principle follows the activity. The clear instructions are easy to follow, and colorful illustrations clarify the instructions. Most of the 20 experiments use a double-page spread and start by listing materials that will be needed. All call for common household objects and equipment. Experiments include blowing up a balloon without using any breath, making a rainbow, and creating musical instruments for a band. Guidance and supervision will be needed with some of the experiments, and younger experimenters will need help with the text. Goldstein-Jackson's Experiments with Everyday Objects (Prentice-Hall, 1978) has more experiments but is for an older age group and is not as colorful.Alice R.
