From School Library Journal:
The team that created You Don't Get a Carrot Unless You're a Bunny and A Nice Surprise for Father Rabbit (both S. & S., 1989) produce another slice-of-life adventure of the Rabbit family. When Father Rabbit decides to do errands alone, Honey Bunny, eager to accompany him, promises not to ask for treats if she can go. She adheres to her promise, but in doing so, thwarts Father Rabbit's own desire to have ice cream and to make a spontaneous stop at the circus. Mother Rabbit welcomes them home, and rewards Honey's good behavior by taking her for the ice cream/circus treat; Father joins the fun. The simple, colorful, uncluttered drawings are reminiscent of Anne and Harlow Rockwell's work, but they are static and unvaried. The text moves along comfortably but includes some subtleties (the peripheral appearance of a police car, the juxtaposition of Honey's denial with her father's wish for a treat) that adults may need to interpret. A book that will be most easily shared one-on-one rather than with a group. --Marge Loch-Wouters, Menasha Public Library, WI
