PreSchool-Grade 1-- Glamorous Mandy, the only child in her mouse family, moves next door to mundane Mitzi, who has a tagalong younger sister, Fifi, and a baby brother. In a predictable plot, Mitzi at first envies her new friend who, as a stereotypically spoiled only child, has too many toys. But Mandy is bored with her toys and wishes she had a big family like Mitzi's. Spending the night with Mandy, Mitzi misses her family and starts to appreciate them. The writing style shows no more imagination than the plot, as the final line illustrates: "In fact, everyone had a great time--especially Fifi, who was finally included in the fun!" The adequate cartoonlike pictures use balloons on some pages to convey conversations.
