From AudioFile:
Any literary anthology is going to exhibit a range of quality, both in material and-in terms of audiobooks-reader ability. In the case of SHOCK ROCK, a collection of rock'n' roll-inspired horror stories, that range varies far too greatly. Of the three cassettes, one is a compilation of music; the other two are stories. Whatever else it has to offer, SHOCK ROCK does prove one thing: Talent doesn't necessarily translate from one art form to another. While Joan Jett's raspy voice is alluring as she reads about a rock group returning from the dead, only Mumy manages to make this rise above an audiobook gimmick.
