Reviews

Emery, a Nashville Network TV host and former disc jockey, continues his reminiscences of country music's phenomenal growth over the past four decades in this sequel to his 1991 best seller, Memories (Audio Reviews, LJ 4/15/92). Emery, who also serves as narrator, knows all the players. He tells their stories (and his) in a gentle, laconic style. Among other tales, he relates how the deaths of Patsy Cline and Roger Miller affected Nashville and how the death of his alcoholic father affected the small town in which he was raised. Except for an unflattering portrait of Garth Brooks, Emery treats his subjects--who are also his friends--gently and with great respect. If you don't expect a Nashville Babylon , you will enjoy this title. Recommended for public libraries.
