Johnannsen developed a view of the economy in terms of circular flows of money and economic activities portrayed in the form of a wheel-of-wealth diagram for which he was perhaps the first to supply a complete statistical underpinning. Johannsen is best known however for having anticipated Keynes' saving-investment relationship and the multiplier. This edition includes a new introductory note, "N.A.L.J. Johnannsen: Amateur Economist," by Joseph Dorfman.
