1970 reprint (A. M. Kelley) of a 1797 treatise by John Curr who designed the first "cast iron railroad," a railway system which could accommodate flat-tire vehicles capable of being used apart from the railway. This book devotes a section to the railroad and is considered the first engineering work on railway track. The remainder of the book contains an extremely detailed description of the Newcomen pumping engine. With elaborately detailed foldout diagrams of the mechanical devices. 96 pages.
