Having delighted millions of Americans with A Year in Provence and Toujours Provence, Peter Mayle treats us to a wonderfully entertaining novel of escape, romance and adventure. played in the landscape he has made so irresistible.

Together they transform it into a little jewel of a hotel. And life seems idyllic. But at the same time, a crook, recently released from the Marseilles prison, is plotting to rob the bank in the nearby town. Paths cross. schemes go awry -- and through it all Peter Mayle delights us with the intrigues of the haut monde that descends on the Hotel Pastis and the machinations of the bad guys, as everything conspires to threaten the heaven on earth that Simon Shaw has envisioned.

From AudioFile:

This newest novel by Peter Mayle is once again set in rural France. The story centers around the adventures of three characters who are building and opening a hotel. Tangled up with the main plot are a bank robbery, a kidnapping and a Mafia hit man. Tim Pigott-Smith narrates this light-hearted tale, providing accents for all the characters. The British accents are very clear, the French light and understandable. Presented in an even-paced tone, lazy with the relaxed atmosphere of rural life, this tale is a nice change from hustle and bustle. Warm up your tape deck and prepare for an unusual adventure in the country. M.B.K. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine
