Review

Though it bills itself as 2 Real LSATs Explained, this book contains much more. Just for starters, it includes two complete "released" exams, answer keys, and highly detailed explanations that tell you how to identify quickly the type of question asked and how to go about answering it. For example, in the analytical-reasoning section, the authors have drawn diagrams to help establish the relationships between the characters in the problems--as should you, when you take your LSAT.

To help you get to the point where you can benefit from taking a practice exam, this book starts out with a section on basics (which points out how the LSAT relates to the skills you'll need to succeed in law school), a "strategy overview" to help you take control of your test, and information on time management (i.e., how much time you can allot per question) and section management (they suggest skimming so that you answer the easy questions first). The basics section is followed by topical chapters on each of the four sections of the exam. Because logical reasoning constitutes half your LSAT score, the longest chapter is devoted to that--but all chapters include tips on what the sections are intended to measure, step-by-step instructions on solving the different types of questions, and a practice set and explanatory answers. A final chapter entitled "Putting It All Together" returns to the topic of "Test Mentality," as well as more mundane advice about ensuring you fill in the correct ovals on the answer sheet. With its straightforward tone, detailed explanations, and crucial information summaries in the margins, 2 Real LSATs Explained is a real help to anyone preparing for this difficult exam. --C. B. Delaney
