Bruce is the director of the National Center for Bioethics. The author of five books, he writes a weekly bioethics column that is syndicated by Scripps Howard News Service and has lectured on the ethics raised by medicine in thirty states, England and Central America. He began his ethics career in New York at the Hastings Center and was founding editor of the Hastings Center Report. A member of five hospital ethics committees, Bruce lives in Sacramento, California.
