Hardcover. Condition: Very Good Minus. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Pat Bargielski (illustrator). 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP). Ron Roy is an American writer of children's fiction, primarily mysteries for young readers, and is best known for the series A to Z Mysteries (from 1997) and Capital Mysteries (from 2001). But way back in 1978 he wrote his First book titled Old Tiger New Tiger. There aren't a great many around, and of those few none are signed. Until now. Mr. Roy has signed and inscribed this book on the dedication page ('Tobi--Best wishes, Ron Roy'). This book is square and tight and very well-bound. The green front and back covers do have a fair amount of spotting/color fading (note that the scanner had a hard time picking this up. It's most visible when the book is looked at from an angle). There isn't any real wear other than that. The corners, the edges, the spine ends, the lettering on the spine, all of it very good. And the interior of the book is pristine. The pages (all 32 unnumbered) are absolutely clean. No one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. There aren't any markings or attachments. It's NOT an ex-library book. And I didn't see any creases or dogeared corners. That's not what you would expect from a children's book, particularly one about to turn 39. The illustrations are really nice. The face of the Tiger is very expressive. The dust jacket has held up quite well. It is NOT price-clipped, although all four flaps are neatly clipped at their corners. The yellow covers have only a bit of handling soiling. There is one small tear off the top edge of the front and one small tear off the bottom edge of the front. There's a little crinkling at both spine ends and a light crease at the top right-hand corner of the front. The all yellow rear is in very good shape as are the white flaps. The dust jacket will be fitted with a protective cover. What's it all about? The monkeys are delighted that their nemesis the tiger appears to be dying (since he is now blind and unable to hunt). But the Wise Monkey warns them that a new tiger might be still worse. They hatch a plan to save the tiger, turning him into a vegetarian and tricking the new tiger into leaving. 'For Kindergarten to Third Grade'. But I liked it (and I'm well past the fourth grade). Inscribed by Author(s). Seller Inventory # 001085
