Grade 1-3?This book brings together in one newly illustrated volume stories from Alex and the Cat (1982), More Alex and the Cat (1983; o.p.), and Alex Remembers (1983; o.p., all Greenwillow). This latest incarnation of Griffith's witty and enjoyable tales about the eager, naive dog and his wise feline friend are packaged in an easy-to-read, early chapter-book format. From the canine's comic misadventures to the animals' mysterious rememberings under the full moon, Griffith imbues both dog and cat with dignity and likability. Lamut's two-color pen-and-ink with watercolor illustrations serve the text well, faithfully drawing out the characters' personalities. Old fans will not be disappointed and newcomers will be delighted to become acquainted with these two good pals.?Marilyn Taniguchi, Santa Monica Public Library, CA
