Crisp black-and-white photographs, diagrams, and maps illustrate the text. Concluding chapters offer suggestions for taking action and include addresses for government agencies and environmental groups. Youngsters will enjoy the behind-the-scenes details, as well as learning about scientists who pursue the investigation with all the dedication of crime-stopping detectives.
