Grade 2-4 Daddy and Mommy are planning to take Harry and Larry to spend a day at the beachif they can stand the drive. The family is canine, but the goings-on are all too human. The puppies squabble and bicker until Daddy loses patience and parks in a truck stop for a nap. Harry and Larry realize that they have gone too far and become models of puppy behavior, fanning their sleeping Daddy (with gale force) so that his nap will be cool and refreshing; then, when he wakes up, they climb aboard in positively courtly fashion. "Would you care to join me in the back, Harry?" "Why, thank you, Larry. That would be most enjoyable." They have a great day at the beachthe best everand home at last, tired but happy, they are still muttering in their sleep "Are we almost there?" "Are we, Daddy?" They'll be just as bratty, and just as lovable, the next time. Each page is divided into cartoon panels, and the story is told entirely through dialogue balloons. Children may not appreciate this little gem, and it may be misused as a stuffy object lesson, but parents, or any other victims of travel with children, will surely find it quite irresistible.
