Young recommends an investment strategy that is intended to steel the individual against vicissitudes in the financial markets, thus assuring economic survival. His method involves timing the purchase of various assetsTreasury obligations, precious metals, no-load mutual funds, and common stocksin such a way as to coincide with turns in the business cycle. The success of this strategy clearly rests with the accuracy of the timing method and Young is not shy in proclaiming the superiority of his own timing system. There is little new here and whether he likens his strategy to an armadillo or a caterpillar, it has only as good a chance of becoming a butterfly as any number of other market strategies.
