Reviews

Musicians enjoy fables that relate their instruments to their personalities, but their conclusions will rarely match those presented here. The authors (British) show systematically how parents can analyze their child's personality and then choose the "right" instrument for him or her. But the observations! Clarinet music is not hard to read, its players should not have their adenoids removed, and boys may be more skilled players than girls. Oboists get headaches, should probably be girls, and might be insecure or intense. Bassoonists are gregarious, trumpet players are independent, tuba players don't need an agile brain, and the cello is for shy children. Not recommended to parents or children.
