Quinn pulls together and distills into 48 essays the systems of the country's most noted handicappers, including Tom Ainslie, Andrew Beyer, William Quirin, and himself. Each essay explains that author's system and provides examples of how it works. Some of the systems are too complex to reduce, and the essays difficult to follow. But for the most part the essays whet the horseplayer's appetite to read the original books, listed in an annotated bibliography. The first book to offer the handicapper a compilation of systems from which to choose and a chance to compare and contrast them in one place; recommended for public and academic libraries.
