Grade 5 Up In her new anthology, Morrison demonstrates the same strong affinity for motion poems that she did in her two previous collections of her poetry of sports and motion ( The Sidewalk Racer 1977 and The Break Dance Kids 1985, both Lothrop). The 88 poems here move from traditional dance calls (``Swing her fast, swing her slow/ Swing her round till she yells `Whoa!' '') to classics (Poe's ``The Bells'') to modern authors (John Updike's ``The Recital '') . The book is divided into ten sections, ranging from dance to sports to technology to the mind. Whether it be James Laughlin's tribute to Martha Graham (``but only the pure/ elements moving as/ music moves moving/ from her into us'') or Martin Robbins' `` Winter Pause: Mt. Liberty, N.H.'' (``While sound/ Ticks snow/ Around/ You''), each poem sends out waves of sound and motion that echo in the mind.
