Not fond of carrots, a rabbit investigates the diet of other animals, only to find out that carrots are quite good after all

Text: English, French (translation)From School Library Journal:
PreSchool-Grade 2 Mr. Rabbit does not like carrots and sets out to poll his neigh bors on their favorite foods. The litany that follows is stiff and predictable, ending with fox's ``I eat rabbit,'' whereupon fox bites off Mr. Rabbit's ears. Mr. Rabbit rushes home and cooks up a pot of carrot stew, ``because carrots make rabbits' ears grow.'' But, at book's end, his ears have not grown, although he has developed a taste for carrot stew. Bold color and vigorous line make Boujon's illustrations livelier than his words, but not enough to over come the lackluster text of this bland book. Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar (Putnam, 1981) makes a similar point in a much more effective and appealing manner. And Mr. Rab bit's mutilated ears are a bit unset tling.
