Overwhelmed with housework, Rabbit decides to get help in cooking, cleaning, and gardening
"synopsis" may belong to another edition of this title.
PreSchool-Grade 2-- This low-key story has a lot of warm appeal. Rabbit is so worn out from gardening that he hires Squirrel to cook his supper. Unfortunately, Squirrel is an inept chef , and Rabbit spends so much time helping in the kitchen that he must hire Weasel to do the gardening. When Weasel can't tell lettuce from weeds, Rabbit helps her in the garden and must now cook meals for three. Hiring Hedgehog as a housekeeper is equally disastrous. Luckily for Rabbit, the friends eventually find their jobs too taxing and they depart, leaving Rabbit to do his own chores. The ending is a bit too pat, but Rabbit's good-natured kindness gives the story a special charm. McCue's softly-colored illustrations complement the text, with her sparkly-eyed Rabbit sure to win many new friends at storytime. --Lori A. Janick, Parkwood Elementary School, Pasadena, Tex.
