Gr 3-8-This guide gives enthusiasts the essential scoop on models, safety tips, tricks, and accessories along with a few anecdotes. Case uses teen vernacular and gentle humor to get his points across. He advises riders not to talk on a cell phone while scooting. He includes a discussion by owners on how they use their scooters and tells how the vehicle was invented by a 40-year-old and marketed in Britain by a 15-year-old. The information on models is limited to a one-paragraph description; a Web site or two; and a "specs" box giving weight, materials, etc. Basic tricks are rated for difficulty and illustrated with black-and-white drawings that show the main concept of the stunt. There are illustrations of scooters as well. Worth having on hand due to the lack of competition in this subject area.
