Synopsis
Travels with STAND is the story of five college students who embarked on a seven month journey following their graduation from Hesston College. The book takes the readers along on a sometimes wild and adventurous journey, starting in Hesston Kansas, which takes them to the jungles of Ecuador, the high desert plateaus of Peru and Bolivia, the famous beaches of Rio De Janeiro, and as far south as San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina. Share with them the struggles that they encountered; trying to keep their van running, navigating almost impassable roads at times, to the challenges of dealing with sometimes difficult government officials. Perhaps the biggest challenge was learning to live together as a community while being completely isolated from friends, family, or social support, trying to navigate foreign geography, as well as local cultures with the instant electronic resources we take for granted today. There is mystery and adventure around each bend of the road ahead, just waiting to be discovered.
