About the Author:
At the age of ten, while on a school field trip to a local museum, Merrie P. Wycoff saw a colossal statue of Pharaoh Ahkenaten. She was instantly mesmerized, and so was born her passion for Egypt, its history, and its ancient people. That passion has stayed with her from her growing-up years through today, fueled by her long-ago vow to write Ahkenaten's story. Now, with the publication of Shadow of the Sun and Stealing the Shadow of Death, she has fulfilled that vow. In addition to a B.A in Public Relations CSUC, an M.A. in Metaphysical Studies at IMM, and a Ph.D. in Comparative Religions with Sedona University, Merrie has earned her Egyptology certificate with the University of Manchester in Great Britain. Having worked at Entertainment Tonight for six years as a Lead Segment Producer, Merrie then used those skills to create an infomercial company with her husband and launch Zap! The Professional Restorer. Merrie resides in Colorado, close to the majesty and the magic of the Rocky Mountains. There she follows her triple calling as a Vibrational Healer, a writer, and a speaker. Shadow of the Sun and Stealing the Shadow of Death are her first two novels in The Shadow Saga. Shadow of the Sun is the 2012 Foreword Reviews Book of the Year Honorable Mention winner.
Review:
Dr. Wycoff puts to good use her extensive knowledge of the history of ancient Egypt in her second book in The Shadow Saga, Stealing the Shadow of Death. And, once again, her deep, heartfelt love and respect for the peoples of that time shine through her written words. Ms. Wycoff expertly combines history with universal themes---love of family, the courage to fight for what is right, even at the risk of one's own life, the willingness to open oneself to the wisdom and beauty of the gods who gave us this beautiful world as a place to learn, and grow, and expand---and then adds mystical paranormal incidents that make an already fascinating story even more so. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to those with an interest in Ancient Egypt and the paranormal, and to everyone else who likes to read. --Jessica Wulf, author of The Wild Rose
Hold on! This is a fast-paced read revealing a unique and startling view of the heretic king Akhenaten s world. All that plus a thrilling chariot ride and a chance encounter with death. Stealing the Shadow of Death will surprise you. --Kathryn M Hansen, Featured in Nova s Presentation of Building Pharaoh s Chariot
Merrie P. Wycoff has created a compelling heroine in Merit-Aten, queen in-waiting in ancient Egypt. This fast-paced epic of life vs. death has a big bang conclusion. I found myself thinking about Merit and what would happen next long after I finished the book. Can t wait for the next one in the series. --Jan Weeks, author of Season of Evil, Season of Dreams
