Synopsis

Titanic The Brothers Peracchio-Two Boys and a Dream is a non fiction historical work of author/Titanic historian Angelica Harris.

This book is a 42 year research  journey,  and labor of love in search for Ms. Harris’, uncles ( through marriage ) Alberto and Sebastiano Peracchio, who were from Fubine, Alessandria, Italy. The brothers were crew -members on the RMS Titanic, in the A’ la Carte Restaurant on Titanic. They worked for Luigi Gatti, who was the owner of the restaurant, and one of the White Star Line’s owners of the Titanic’s most renowned chef’s of that time.

Alberto, Sebastiano, and Luigi died on Titanic, along with the other 34 staff members of the A’ la Carte Restaurant. Mr. Gatti’s remains and six others from the restaurant were found by the Mackey-Bennett Salvage ship.  Alberto and Sebastiano’s remains rest in the hull of Titanic.

This book is steeped in the history of Titanic, and Angelica’s family lineage from Italy to America, and documentation from the ship, and Titanic’s archives.

This past year, Angelica Harris traveled to Nova Scotia to present her research to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and its Senior Interpreter Richard MacMichael to present her story and her book. She also spoke to her fellow historians at the TSAC (Titanic Society of Atlantic Canada) where she met with her book designers Deanna and Neil Meister. Deanna and Neil took her on a tour of the Titanic sites as well as Mount Olivette and Fairview Lawn Cemeteries where the remains of the Titanic survivors have found rest. These pictures and her findings are documented in this book.

About the Author

Human Rights Activist Angelica Harris is a successful author, poet laureate, entrepreneur, advocate, and speaker. She uses her personal story to build a community of humanitarians who are compassionate, and will assist children with special needs and those who need further enrichment towards attaining their personal goals. She believes we can all become Heroes in our own lives. Angelica was born in New York City. Her love for writing was ignited in high school, when she used the written word to escape the difficulties she faced at home. Harris pursued creative arts at Hunter College, where she studied history and theatre. With a lifelong passion for medieval history, especially Arthurian lore, Angelica is the author of three fantasy novels: The Quest for Excalibur, Excalibur and the Holy Grail, and Excalibur Reclaims Her King. Currently in production is her fourth book, Excalibur and the Titulus, scheduled to be released next year. Harris remarks that writing helped bring her solace as she raised a son with Tourette's Syndrome, (ADHD) Attention Hyperactivity Disorder, (OCD) Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and (ODD) Oppositional Defiance Disorder. Angelica decided that the programs out there for children such as for her son were not enough, and trained with the Tourette's Syndrome Association to become a youth advocate for children who needed more than the conventional after-school help. In February 2005, she founded the Excalibur Reading Program, a non-profit organization that brings the importance of reading, writing, and the arts to all children, as well as to organizations dedicated to children with special needs. Harris is also known as "Lady Excalibur," the children's comic book hero in the comic series The Crusaders, and for her historic writing of her two uncles who were crewmembers on the Titanic in the book Titanic: The Brothers Peracchio - Two Boys and a Dream. Currently Angelica is writing a second book about her uncles and recently traveled to Nova Scotia to complete her research about Titanic and her uncles. Recently, Angelica began a new Youth Program at her center called The Excalibur Embracers. The group will be engaged all year to help Angelica in her center, to do community service work, and receive credits and service hours towards their personal goals. Angelica works with the Department of Education and with community leaders to help bring awareness to her program's incentives. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Women (NAFW), and is also a member of the Queens Council for the Arts. Recently, Ms. Harris received her Good Counsel Certificate with Bridge to Life. Harris counsels teens and women through Bridge who have been through abortions and also helps with crisis pregnancies.
