We know we need to pray but often we don’t know how or what to pray. Taking the Mountain of Education is written for those who want to pray informed prayers that will target the root problems of the issues we face in American Education. Ten historical events or entities, called entry points, are identified that led us to a humanistic school system. Each entry point has a unique prayer strategy that targets the root causes of humanism in our schools. This book is for anyone who wants to see reformation in America’s schools.

As an educator, I knew that educational system in the United States had changed, and not for the better. I'd watched it fail before my eyes. When i was in school, the problems in the classroom were simple - gum chewing, tardiness and occasionally truancy. In the classroom twenty years later, I now dealt with drugs, alcohol, low test scores, disrespect and outright rebellion. I delved into the history of US education to find where it had taken turns that led us down the path to a totally different school environment than our parents and grandparents had experienced. It soon became clear what had happened. What I did was called "Spiritual Mapping" and is usually done over a geographical area. Spiritual Mapping reveals the spiritual forces that are predominate in shaping a state, city, nation or in this case the educational system. We have had a mastermind that pulled the strings to bring our educational system under the strong influence of humanism. The God of the Christians has been ousted and now our schools are humanistic and are failing. How do we get back on track? It's easier than we think.
The Sound of Victory
When we are being told by people with firsthand knowledge that the educational system is broken, then it is time for those who pray to begin to move to the front lines and proclaim the victory.front lines and proclaim the victory.
In 2 Samuel 5:23-24, David asked the Lord how to advance against the Philistine army. The Lord replied, "Do not go straight up, but circle around behind them and attack them in front of the balsam trees. As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, move quickly because that will mean the Lord has gone out in front of you."
When we hear reports that our educational system needs a complete makeover, then it is time to march around behind them, take our spiritual position, and pray for God to do something new in our country. Do you hear the rustling in the tops of the balsam trees? If so, it is time to pray.
I find strength for battle not only in the Bible, but through natural wars that have been fought and won. One of my favorite places in Washington, DC is the Korean War Memorial. During my first visit to the site I felt as though I were walking on hallowed ground. Transported back in time, I was on a dangerous patrol in a driving rain walking across a muddy rice field with nineteen soldiers dressed in full combat gear. The sense of determination and purpose is engraved on the faces of the soldiers.
After taking a slight turn at the memorial, I found myself at a shallow circular pool about thirty feet in diameter, called the Pool of Remembrance. Along the edge of the pool were the Korean War statistics--the number of people killed, wounded, missing in action, and prisoners of war. That data alone is moving, but another inscription moved my heart: "Our nation honors her sons and daughters who answered the call to defend a country they never knew and a people they never met."
When we bow our knees in prayer for those whom we will never know and never meet on earth, we have entered hallowed ground. Intercessors most likely will never experience the physical hardships the troops endured, but we certainly know the calling to give ourselves to defend the Kingdom of God by praying for people in distant lands and, in our case, in our schools and in organizations which we may never enter.
Anyone who takes on the challenge to pray for America's schools will walk that same path. While we may never know the students, teachers, and organizations, we certainly know that we have a mission of redemption for the millions of children who are caught in a battle that if we lose will result in the downfall of this country. It's a somber challenge for us.
