About the Author

Before joining the faculty at Clemson University in 2006, Professor Smith received his B.S. (2000) from University of Toledo where he did research with Prof. Robert A. Flowers, II; and his Ph.D. (2004) from Case Western Reserve University working with Prof. John D. Protasiewicz. He was a NRSA National Institute of Health Postdoctoral Fellow (2004-2006) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the laboratory of Prof. Stephen J. Lippard. Professor Smith is professor of organic materials at Clemson and won an NSF-CAREER award for his research on plastic electronics in 2009. In addition to overseeing his research laboratory, he has served as a consultant and is an active reviewer and contributor to text books and supporting educational materials.
