About the Author

Chip Leonard is the cofounder of Innovating Education, a company dedicated to improving teaching through learning partnerships with students. His experience as an educator spans 32 years and includes teaching Career and Technical Education courses grades 6-12, curriculum development, and assessment writing. He has also served as a professional development specialist and consultant, leading hundreds of teachers through the valuable work of collegial planning and assessment development. His work with student voice has transformed the way teachers use timely data to inform instructional planning.

Jill Budd is a long-term, Florida educator with extensive district and school-based experience in leadership, data analysis, professional learning communities, strategic planning and building learning partnerships. During the past two years she has served as a leadership coach for novice and aspiring principals via the Florida Turnaround Leadership Program and Atlantic Research Partners. Her previous positions as Executive Director of Leadership, Executive Director of Secondary Schools, Director of Instructional Technology and school principal provided her with the opportunity to develop a diverse skill set. She enjoys mentoring and assisting others in becoming more proficient in instructional leadership, effective classroom evaluation, PLC implementation, use of formative assessment, incorporation of technology, and the development of ongoing, strategic monitoring systems using Access and district technology tools.
