Synopsis

A story about marriage, family, and the silver lining that holds it all together. Once an aspiring young attorney, Josie looked forward to taking on the injustices of the world—one case at a time. Eleven years later, she’s a stay-at-home mom and battling demons that don’t require a law degree. Only keeping up pretenses proves more than she can bear when a bracelet that should have been hers shows up on the wrist of another woman. Her marriage slowly begins to unravel as an ex-lover comes back into her life. When he offers her the dreams she thought she’d lost, Josie must chose between the man she married and the one she let get away. John has always known exactly what he wanted. A career as a high-powered attorney, followed by the perfect family of six, and then elected public service. So it was no surprise that the first time he laid his eyes on Josie, he knew she was the one he’d share his dreams with. More than a decade, and one tragic miscalculation later, all he has worked for is slipping through his fingers. Powerless to stem the flow, the one thing he remains certain of: he can’t lose the woman he married.

Review

"The Woman He Married is beautifully written, realistic, and honest. If you are interested in an emotional and gripping storyabout marriage and relationships I would recommend reading this book." - Clojo Blog Reviews

"This is the story of two grown-ups doing grown-upthings, making grown-up decisions but struggling to find the give and take intheir relationship. While this isn't ordinarily the genre I gravitate toward, Igive the author credit for evoking the kind of raw emotion one feels whilereading this book. Ford makes the reader keenly conscious of anger, jealousy, resentment, and loss through evocative characters and an emotionally charged plotline--asolid accomplishment for the best of writers." - Loverofbooks Blog Reviews

"The Woman He Married is a journey ofself-discovery as Josie comes to grips with her newly-defined self and mustdetermine what she really wants her life to become. She also must decide if sheis willing to fight against the odds in a fading marriage, or if she'll letdemons of the past gain the upper-hand. A compelling plot, a roller coaster ofinsightful emotions, dark humor, and the steady hope in human nature, allcombine into a novel that's difficult to put down." - Yanelis Blog Reviews

"THE WOMAN HE MARRIED was one rough read throughthe emotional roller-coaster ofthese characters' lives. It was heartbreaking seeingtheir relationship fall apart and then as they try to figure out what willhappen next and if it's worth it to work towards a happily-ever-after. Readers who like their romance with depth, complex characters, and some serious turbulence will enjoy this one!
This book tugged on my heart somuch! There were parts I wanted to scream at the characters, othertimes I wanted to just cry from the heartbreak, and some that were filled withso much happiness. I really, really don't like people who cheat on others andthis book delves into that without softening any of it. No skimping orsugar-coating here. It feltvery authentic. I wasn't quite sure how I felt about it allspecifically, but the emotions were definite pulled out while reading. I mean,do you forgive? Do you try to fix things? And if you are married to this reallygood guy who loves you and has royally screwed up, but who is willing to changeand fix things, is it worth fighting for that? As a reader, it was good to beinside both Josie's and John's heads as we get their point of views, especiallyas you knew if things were real for them or not.
In the end, was this what I wishedfor? This was a well-written story that delves into a heartbreakingsituation and somehow still has a happily-ever-after. A tough story to read, but one that I sunk into and enjoyed." - WishfulEndings Blog Reviews
